Te Hau Āwhiowhio
Te Hau Āwhiowhio ō Otangarei trust is a non-government organisation providing health, justice and social services, and is a member of a whānau ora collective.
It is a kaupapa Māori organisation known for being innovative, inclusive, following through with commitments and taking a Whānau Ora and Tīkanga Māori approach.
Te Hau Āwhiowhio ō Otangarei Trust delivers on contracts with funders from the Ministry of Social Development, Ministry of Health, Te Puni Kōkiri, Ministry of Education, Northland District Health Board and Mahitahi Hauora PHE (Primary Health Entity).
We also whanaunga with New Zealand Police and Housing New Zealand. We have additional operational contracts with Oranga Tamariki, Ngāti Hine Health Trust, Te Puni Kōkiri, and Whangārei District Council.
OUR SERVICES
Whānau Ora Kaiarahi
Kaiārahi work alongside each whānau to help them identify their goals and dreams that will assist in positive change.
Youth Services
Our Youth Services provide a number of programmes to young people engaged with the judicial system. All referrals come directly from the court and Oranga Tamariki.
Community Social Workers
Support and advocacy on a high risk, high need level.
Hakinakina Programme
Empowering tamariki through sports and physical and cultural activities. We believe that taitamariki from any background have the opportunity to reach their sporting and personal goals.
Puawai Puriri
The Puawai Puriri Holiday Programme provides a safe and relaxed atmosphere for our tamariki to take part in and enjoy various recreation experiences.
Wānanga
An ongoing, long term programme designed specifically to help participants achieve their goals and aspirations.
Kāinga Ora Otangarei
Our own Urban Regeneration programme with a vision to achieve a vibrant and successful Otangarei community and proactive, proud and prosperous whānau.
Otangarei Papakāinga
A fit for purpose transitional housing papakāinga in the suburb of Otangarei. The papakāinga temporarily houses families from MSD’s social housing register, before they move on to more sustainable accommodation.
Hauora Clinic
Located in the heart of Whāngarei CBD. Our aim is to assist whānau to achieve their wellness goals, in partnership with the community.
